International Workshop MSU
Would you like to get to know international perspectives in spatial planning, experience exciting excursions in the Ruhr region and exchange ideas with students from the USA?
Our department offers the exclusive opportunity to participate in this international exchange. In 2025, students from the School of Planning, Design and Construction at Michigan State University (MSU) will be guests in Dortmund, while a return visit to the USA will take place in 2026 to gain academic and practical insights into different planning cultures.
Program focus 2025: An exciting program will be organized in the period from 12.05. - 16.05.2025, which includes excursions in the Ruhr area (Hansa coking plant, Dortmunder U and Dortmund city center, Westfalenpark, Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord, GRUGAPark Essen) as well as joint research activities with the MSU students.
The focus is on the International Horticultural Exhibition 2027 (IGA), which serves as an interdisciplinary platform for sustainable urban and landscape planning. The topic makes it possible to analyze current challenges and innovative solutions in open space planning from a global perspective.
