Instruments of landscape and environmental planning (M.Sc.)
Learning objectives/learning content
The seminar provides an insight into various instruments of environmental and landscape planning. The topics covered include a comparative presentation of landscape planning in different federal states, project-related environmental
assessment instruments for urban land-use and spatial planning and infrastructure projects. These include the impact regulation, the environmental assessment, the strategic environmental assessment, the environmental impact assessment, the species protection assessment and the FFH
compatibility assessment. The various, sometimes very specific, objects of protection in these assessments are also considered in comparison. Other environmental planning instruments such as water management plans, flood risk management plans and environmental protection planning such as noise reduction or air pollution control plans extend the spectrum.
Currently discussed topics, such as the consequences of heat waves for the planning of urban areas, particulate matter pollution in municipalities or approaches for "temporary nature" on brownfields or other temporarily unused areas and the associated handling of nature conservation requirements or the federal Blue Belt program round off the seminar.
Which topics can be covered depends on the number and interest of the seminar participants.
The partial performance requires the regular and active participation of the students. This includes oral and written contributions to discussions on the topics covered. A lecture (presentation) with
a written paper is planned for each of the different areas of work. The presentation and paper can be given alone or in small groups. The topics will be assigned at the beginning of the course.
Participation restriction
Participation in the course is limited. The registration procedure for all courses takes place at the beginning of the semester. Information and deadlines are announced on the department's homepage, by e-mail and in the information and introductory event before the start of the lecture.
